The SuperShow platform uses a hierarchy structre to group your classes into Sections and Categories.
A Section (Parent) is the top-level grouping for your classes, representing the broadest grouping of classes. The section does not depend on anything above it - everything within the section takes the Section category fields and entry fee, unless otherwise stated.
The Category (Child of Section) is an option within a section. Each section can have multiple categories, but each category belongs to only one section. Categories refine the broad concept of the section.
A Sub-Category (Child of Category) is an option within a category. It provides the most specific level of grouping. Each category may have zero or many sub-categories.
Here is a visual representation of how the Competition Section - Category - Sub-category relationship can be viewed:
Section (Parent)
│
├── Category (Option within Section)
│ ├── Sub-Category (Option within Category)
│ └── Sub-Category
│
└── Category
├── Sub-Category
└── Sub-Category
For a simple example, consider this structure:
- Section: Food
- Category: Fruits
- Sub-Category: Citrus, Berries, Tropical
Setting the Entry fee per section / category, applies that fee to all classes within that section/category, unless stated as another fee on the class detail, saving you time if needing to change class entry fees in bulk at any time. Similarly, the location, ring, and date can be set at the section level and will apply to the class, as the final result for the structure.
