COPYING AND PASTING TEXT
Do not paste text directly from another website, Word, PDF or other document without cleaning away any formatting. Copying formatting from another site only conflicts with the layouts that are in place to best handle your content on your PDF schedule, catalogue, steward sheets, all PDFs and download CSVs, and web pages.
How to Paste Text into a Website Without Formatting
When you copy text from Word documents, PDFs, or other rich-text formats, it often carries over hidden formatting like fonts, colors, spacing, or styles. Once the text is on the website, you can use the formatting toolbar on the Upper and Lower Content to style the text as needed.
To paste just the plain text into a website (such as a blog post editor, form, or CMS), follow these steps:
Option 1: Paste into a Plain Text Editor First
- Open a plain text editor like:
- Notepad (Windows)
- TextEdit (Mac — set to plain text mode with Format > Make Plain Text)
- Paste your text there first — this strips out all formatting.
- Then copy the cleaned text from the plain editor and paste it into the website.
Option 2: Use Keyboard Shortcuts
On most systems, you can bypass formatting by using a special keyboard shortcut:
- Windows: Press Ctrl + Shift + V
- Mac: Press Command + Shift + Option + V
This pastes the content as plain text instead of keeping the original formatting.
REDUCING PARAGRAPH BREAKS
When you output your PDFs, you might notice that your section or category opening or closing notes, or your class descriptions are showing too many spaces and paragraph breaks.
How to reduce the space used when wanting to skip a line:
- When editing your Classes or Category notes PDF Schedule/Catalogues, the ENTER key will make the page give one full paragraph break (one full clear line).
- A better option, to save space, would be to use SHIFT and ENTER, which will only skip a line, and not a full paragraph!
