The steps to do this are here, and each website will need to do this.
You will need a Google Account in order to do this. You can use an existing account, or create a new account. Once the site is verified, Google will start showing your site after a few days, each day, giving it a higher ranking.
By updating your site regularly, Google will see that it is an active site and give it a better ranking.
Before verifying your website, your site must be public - ie. not in maintenance mode.
Google needs to be able to access the site in order to verify it. Once verified, you can turn Maintenance mode on again, if required.
TO VERIFY YOUR WEBSITE:
-
Go to Google Search Console - https://search.google.com/ - Log in with your Show's Google Account
-
Choose Add Property - Use the URL Prefix option
-
Enter a domain URL to be crawled > submit
-
Choose HTML Tag from available options - COPY the HTML Tag offered - Keep this Google Window/Tab open
-
Go to your Administration section > Settings > Other > Add custom Script > Enter the copied HTML tag (eg. <meta name="google-site-verification" content="Zt_fybB2G8jGe4m6jrdG-PkZbVyK3UbR8YurNyFt-e8" />) > Click Save Changes
-
Go back to the Google Search Console > Click Veify > Expect OWNERSHIP VERIFIED result
-
Go to property > Sitemaps > add sitemap.xml after the domain displayed> Click SUBMIT > Expect message to say Sitemap submitted successfully
Now, in a few days, the results will start appearing higher.
